Hesban 10: The Necropolis of Tell Hesban: A Catalogue of Tombs and their Contents
edited by Douglas Waterhouse (Andrews Univeristy)
Volume ten offers a tomb-by-tomb account, with plans and photographs, of the 41 Roman and Byzantine tombs excavated in the vicinity of Hesban's cemetery. This study classifies the dozens of tombs located in the Necropolis of Hesban into six types: chamber tombs with loculi radiating from the chamber, chamber tombs with adjoining arching alcoves (arcosolia), chamber tombs with both loculi and arcosolia, horizontal shaft tombs, vertical shaft tombs, and natural caves used as burial sites. The volume also includes a chapter dealing with the skeletal biology of the human remains from these tombs.
