This publication of the first season of research at Tell el-`Umeiri, Jordan, includes extensive multidisciplinary reports on the region in addition to the results of excavation at the tell. Twenty-three contributors from 15 academic institutions have prepared historical and contemporary regional studies of food, water, geography, and hinterland sites providing the context for archaeological reports which consider stratigraphy, ceramics, and small finds. Included are 290 photos, 80 maps, 60 figures, 40 illustrations, and 25 pottery plates, as well as 25 pages of botanical summaries and 150 pages of locus summaries.
